SCARS OF LIFE

23 10 2009

Some years ago,

on a hot summer day in South Florida ,

a little boy decided to go for a swim

in the old swimming hole behind his house.

In a hurry to dive into the cool water,

he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes, socks, and shirt as he went.

He flew into the water,

not realizing that as he swam toward the middle of the lake,

an alligator was swimming toward the shore.

His father, working in the yard, saw the two as they got closer and closer together.

In utter fear, he ran toward the water,

yelling to his son as loudly as he could.

Hearing his voice,

the little boy became alarmed and made a U-turn to swim to his father.

It was too late.

Just as he reached his father, the alligator reached him.

From the dock, the father grabbed his little boy by the arms

just as the alligator snatched his legs…

That began an incredible tug-of-war between the two.

The alligator was much stronger than the father,

but the father was much too passionate to let go.

A farmer happened to drive by, heard his screams,

raced from his truck, took aim and shot the alligator.

Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital,

the little boy survived.

His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal.

And, on his arms, were deep scratches

where his father’s fingernails dug into his flesh in his effort

to hang on to the son he loved.

The newspaper reporter who interviewed the boy after the trauma,

asked if he would show him his scars.

The boy lifted his pant legs. And then, with obvious pride,

he said to the reporter,

‘But look at my arms.

I have great scars on my arms, too.

I have them because my Dad wouldn’t let go.’

You and I can identify with that little boy.

We have scars, too.

No, not from an alligator,

but the scars of a painful past.

Some of those scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret.

But, some wounds, my friend,

are because God has refused to let go.

In the midst of your struggle,

He’s been there holding on to you…

God loves you.

You are a child of God.

He wants to protect you and provide for you in every way.

But sometimes we foolishly wade into dangerous situations,

not knowing what lies ahead.

The swimming hole of life is filled with peril -

and we forget that the enemy is waiting to attack.

That’s when the tug-of-war begins -

and if you have  the scars of His love on your arms,

be very, very grateful.

He did not and will not ever let you go..

Please pass this on to those you love…

God has blessed you, so that you can be

a blessing to others.

You just never know where  a person is in his/her life and

what they are going through.

Never judge another person’s scars, because you don’t know

how they got them…

Also,

it is so important that we are not selfish,

to receive the blessings of these messages,

without forwarding them to someone else.

Right now,

Petrol Efficiency Tips

22 09 2009

Tips on Filling your Vehicles…
ONLY BUY OR FILL UP YOUR CAR OR BIKKIE IN THE EARLY MORNING WHEN THE GROUND TEMPERATURE IS STILL COLD.

Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground, the denser the fuel, when it gets warmer petrol expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening…. your litre is not exactly a litre.
In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the petrol, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products play an important role. A 1degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

WHEN YOU’RE FILLING UP, DO NOT SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER OF THE NOZZLE TO A FAST MODE.

If you look, you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode, you should be pumping on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapours that are created, while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapour return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapour. Those vapours are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you’re getting less worth for your money.

ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TIPS IS TO FILL UP WHEN YOUR TANK IS HALF FULL.

The reason for this is, the more fuel you have in your tank, the less air occupying its empty space. Petrol evaporates faster than you can imagine. Petroleum storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the petrol and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation.
Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated, so that every litre is actually the exact amount.

ANOTHER REMINDER, IF THERE IS A FUEL TRUCK PUMPING INTO THE STORAGE TANKS, WHEN YOU STOP TO BUY, DO NOT FILL UP –

most likely the petrol/diesel is being stirred up as the fuel is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.
Hope, this will help you get the maximum value for your money.
DO SHARE THESE TIPS WITH OTHERS! LET’S SHARE INFORMATION AND BENEFIT ALL, FOR THE BETTER OF MANKIND

Maybe…

21 09 2009
1. Maybe. . we were supposed to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that, when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.

2. Maybe
. . . when the door of happiness closes, another opens; but, often times, we look so long at the closed door that we don’t even see the new one which has been opened for us.

3. Maybe
. . . it is true that we don’t know what we have until we lose it, but it is also true that we don’t know what we have been missing until it arrives.

4. Maybe
. . . the happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

5. Maybe
. . . the brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; after all, you can’t go on successfully in life until you let go of your past mistakes, failures and heartaches.

6. Maybe
. . . you should dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go, be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you dream of, and want to do.

7. Maybe
. . . there are moments in life when you miss someone — a parent, a spouse, a friend, a child — so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real, so that once they are around you appreciate them more.

8. Maybe
. . . the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you’ve ever had.

9. Maybe
. . you should always try to put yourself in others’ shoes. If you feel that something could hurt you, it probably will hurt the other person, too.

10. Maybe
. . you should do something nice for someone every single day, even if it is simply to leave them alone.

11. Maybe
. . giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will love you back. Don’t expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart; but, if it doesn’t, be content that it grew in yours.

12. Maybe
. . . happiness waits for all those who cry, all those who hurt, all those who have searched, and all those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of all the people who have touched their lives.

13. Maybe
. . . you shouldn’t go for looks; they can deceive; don’t go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.

14. Maybe
. . you should hope for enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy

15. Maybe
. . . you should try to live your life to the fullest because when you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling but when you die, you can be the one who is smiling and everyone around you crying.

Maybe
. . . you could send this message to those people who mean something to you, to those who have touched your life, to those who can and do make you smile when you really need it, to those who make you see the brighter side of things when you are really down, and to all those whom you want to know that you appreciate them and their friendship.

ONCE UPON A TIME……….

20 09 2009

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package.
What food might this contain?” The mouse wondered – he was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.

Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning:
There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!”

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, “Mr.Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it.”

The mouse turned to the pig and told him, “There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!”

The pig sympathized, but said, I am so very sorry, Mr.Mouse, but there is nothing I can do about it but pray.
Be assured you are in my prayers.”

The mouse turned to the cow and said “There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!”
The cow said, “Wow, Mr. Mouse. I’m sorry for you, but it’s no skin off my nose.”
So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer’s mousetrap alone.
That very night a sound was heard throughout the house — like the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey.

The farmer’s wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught.
The snake bit the farmer’s wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital , and she returned home with a fever.
Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup’s mainIngredient: The Chicken.

But his wife’s sickness continued, so friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock.
To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.
The farmer’s wife did not get well; she died.
So many people came for her funeral, the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them.
The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness.
So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and think it doesn’t concern you, remember — when one of us is threatened, we are all at risk.
We are all involved in this journey called life. We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another.

FORWARD THIS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS NEVER HELPED YOU OUT (INCLUDING ME) AND LET THEM KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THEY ARE.

REMEMBER,,,,
EACH OF US IS A VITAL THREAD IN ANOTHER PERSON’S TAPESTRY;
OUR LIVES ARE WOVEN TOGETHER FOR A REASON.
One of the best things to hold onto in this world is a Friend……….
